During the blessing of Ashes this year I mentioned we might think about our own life so far and the years we have lived. I’m reminded of what Kierkegard the philosopher said: “life must be lived going forward but only understood looking backwards”. Looking back over our life at the beginning of the first full week of Lent – what has our life been and how might we look at it? What are the successes? Let’s think about them for the coming days and thank God.
What about if we are young and just starting out in life. Ed Sheeran has a thought in his song “What do I know.” We can make great use of what we have at our hand right now. He makes a point of having “a stage, a guitar, and a song”. Making the point, we make a difference for ourselves and others if we have “love, understanding and positivity”. To be positive about ourselves.
